Driving Integrated Collaborative
Care
Enabling collaboration
Closer collaboration with multi-disciplinary experts is one of the
cornerstones to improving individual patient care. Centricity
RIS-i incorporates an enhanced MDT Module that allows
clinicians to add/remove patients from clinical conferences. This
enables Radiologists to have greater visibility of the patients
to be discussed in MDT meetings and can proactively prepare
expert insights.
The MDT module is run from the RIS with seamless front-end
integration to PACS, giving the user access to all relevant
radiology and regional (XDS) history for the patient. At the end
of the MDT meeting, the Radiologist publishes the outcomes
report to the Vendor Neutral Archive (VNA), making it accessible
to all clinicians.
Integrating care
In the current climate of NHS reforms and consolidation
of health services, integrating care across communities is
becoming an essential component to improve patient care and
optimise expert resources. Centricity RIS-i is built on a web-
based architecture that enables access from virtually anywhere,
anytime and connects Radiologists across the organisation to
a single worklist. This enables cross-site reporting, workload
sharing, balancing the use of sub-specialist expertise and the
electronic transmission of images and records.

Through a tight integration with PACS and VNA, Centricity
RIS-i provides unified access to the regional patient history.
This integrates RIS with the broader community, enabling
Radiologists to share images and XDS patient history with
referrers and external specialists.

GE Healthcare supplied a wide range of equipment,
including Centricity* RIS/PACS, to the Olympic and
Paralympic Polyclinic for London 2012.
The GE RIS/PACS solution was used to manage all the
images and clinical data for the competing athletes. It
enabled clinicians to make faster diagnoses because they
were able to access complete electronic patient records at
the touch of a button. In addition the CD Production Unit
enabled athletes to take their images and reports home on
CD after the Games.
Said Dr Phil O’Connor, Imaging Lead for the Olympic Games:
“ GE’s Centricity* RIS/Web-based PACS will be invaluable
in the busy environment of the Olympic and Paralympic
Polyclinic, making a vital contribution to the medical team’s
ability to diagnose athlete injuries rapidly, administer the
appropriate treatment and get them back into medal
contention as quickly as possible.”
